German Winter thyme is regarded as the quintessential winter-hardy upright thyme plant. Similar to other varieties of thyme, German Winter has a mild minty, herbal flavor perfect for seasoning or teas. Purple flowers in the summertime are also highly attractive to a number of pollinators and can be used in similar ways to the leaves.
Commonly used in a variety of culinary ways for its minty, herbal flavor profile, thyme is most popular in soups, roasted vegetables, and in compound herb butters.
Mature plants typically reach a height of around 6-12" and do best when planted about 6-8" from one another.
German Winter thyme is perennial, and will last through hot, dry summers, and cold winter climates, though they may benefit from mulching in the late fall.
Plants are available in 4" pots beginning the week of 4/1.
