Shipping/Ordering
Unfortunately we are only equipped to ship within a local delivery radius at this time.
Our typical delivery zone is within about a 33 mile radius of our headquarters in Church Hill, Maryland, with exceptions made for distances slightly out of that range based on a mileage fee. For more information on setting up local delivery, please call our office at 410-556-6010.
We do not ship out of state via USPS or third party carriers.
Yes! We will install plants anywhere within our local delivery range or slightly beyond. While delivery is charged based on distance and equipment, our installation fee is typically 75% of the original list price of the items in question. For larger trees and shrubs, this fee may be a little hefty, but it comes with a year warranty (some exclusions apply).
To inquire about delivery and installation, or to get an estimate on delivery and installation for an existing order through the online store, please call the office at 410-556-6010, and we'll happily put together a free estimate for you.
our plants
Native plants, meaning plants that grown in the wild in a given area without human intervention, are vital to pollinators and ecosystem health, stand up to changing climate patterns and intense weather than non-native selections, and they just look beautiful!
Unity Nursery puts the emphasis on native plants to encourage healthy populations of birds, butterflies, pollinators and other beneficial insects, and most animals in general. By building a healthy and diverse back yard, you can encourage better ecosystem health across the region, the state, and even the country.
Unity specializes in not just native plants like trees and shrubs, but also in native perennials, which are more cost-effective over time than annuals, and which present more solutions to problematic or stubborn areas in the home landscape.
Solution plantings allow gardeners to pick plants for their landscapes that can actually solve or prevent future garden problems.
If you have a low-lying area that tends to sit a bit wetter, or if you have an area where heavy rain has eroded part of your backyard into culverts and ditches, you could try dumping in extra soil or digging a better drain, or you could plant a water-loving shrub or dense-rooted perennial to solve those problems more naturally and effectively over time.
Your best bet is to take a long look at how your property is situated and what trends you might notice over time. Do you have a southern-facing yard that gets blazing hot sun all year long? Or do you have a northern facing lot that backs onto a densely forested ravine?
Both of these sites can potentially have very different base levels of sunlight, water, wind, and soil conditions, and those are the factors that play into choosing the best plants for your area.
If you see some general trends, like if your whole property is in dappled sunlight under mature trees, then you can find suitable plants for the area by filtering items on our Shop page by light level.
If you see some things but aren't sure what to make of them, feel free to stop by the nursery to talk to some of our retail staff and get a second opinion.
Unity Nursery proudly grows a majority of our entire plant catalog in-house within our production areas, tunnels, and greenhouses, and all of our plants are grown naturally and as close to organically as possible, with only small amounts of natural turkey manure-based fertilizer and water as their main inputs.
Anything marked Unity Grown is certified as chemical free from the moment it arrives on property and during its growing cycle, meaning no herbicides, pesticides, and fungicides, and especially no systemic chemicals or neonicotinoids.
Anything without the Unity Grown is label is purchased in from other nurseries, many of whom are also very transparent about their chemical use of complete lack thereof, but we don't have the same say in certifying that those plants have been chemical free throughout their lifespans.
For more information on who we work with and what their chemical inputs might look like, don't hesitate to reach out via the contact@unitynursery.com email address and we'll pass along as much info as we can.
