Rudbeckia fulgida 'American Gold Rush' (Black Eyed Susan) Unity Grown

Rudbeckia fulgida 'American Gold Rush' is a compact cultivar of black-eyed Susan bred for disease resistance and consistent smaller stature than other common black-eyed Susans, growing to only right around 2' tall. As a direct descendant of Rudbeckia fulgida var. deamii, 'American Gold Rush' produces long-lasting golden yellow blooms with dark yellow to chocolate brown centers from mid-summer into the fall. Foliage is narrower than other varieties, adding texture, and flowers maintain even, golden appearance well into the autumn. When planted en masse, 'American Gold Rush is sure to impress with their showy floral displays, their wide, clump-forming habit up to 3' across, and their popularity among pollinators including butterflies. Then, even after blooms begin to die back in the fall, persistent seed cones act as food for a great number of small songbirds. 

Rudbeckia fulgida 'American Gold Rush' is resistant to deer damage, disease, and drought conditions once established, but grows best in average, medium-moist, well-drained soils. While other black-eyed Susans can suffer from leaf-spot diseases, the narrow, fuzzy leaves of the 'American Gold Rush' variety stand up beautifully, even under hot, humid conditions. For the best floral display, 'American Gold Rush, should be planted in full sun, and with their compact size, these beautiful wildflowers will thrive in small garden spaces, low borders, containers, and in more wild areas like meadows and pollinator gardens too!
