Penstemon digitalis 'Dark Towers' is a cultivar of beardtongue which grows to between two and three feet tall. Similar to 'Blackbeard,' 'Dark Towers' is noted for its tall spike of pink flowers and its red and green foliage, which turns to a deep wine-red color as it matures. This cultivar is also noted for its 'ultra-hardiness' and may produce blooms from humid mid-summer up until the first frosts in late fall, with blooms being especially attractive to bumblebees.

Tall flower spikes also make great additions to cut flower arrangements, and fall and winter interest are added by this cultivar's cold tolerance and semi-evergreen foliage. 'Dark Towers' prefers medium to dry soils, full sun, and a decent bit of heat, though they don't like to be crowded, so some thinning may be required every few years.
