'Scarletta' is a more compact cultivar of Leucothoe and is slow growing and is winter hardy and a mounded, dwarf growth habit. In the spring, new growth begins with a mound of deep, green foliage and small white bell shaped, fragrant flowers emerge. Foliage turns into deep burgundy reds and purples. A work horse for a shady perennial that provides year-round interest and is a low maintenance native.
