Heuchera x 'Obsidian' is a hybrid coral bell cultivar noted for its eye-catching purple-black foliage as well as the other features of typical coral bells that growers love: Shade-loving, low maintenance, and producing beautiful spikes of bell-shaped flowers from early spring well into the fall, 'Obsidian' is a great low-growing addition to any shaded area, contrasts excellently against brighter colored plants, and works very well as an underplanting for larger shrubs or trees.

Heuchera typically grow to under 12" tall, with flower spikes rising slightly above this height, occasionally up to two feet, and are commonly ignored by browsing deer. Blooms are attractive to butterflies, bees, and even hummingbirds, and the natural mounding behavior of 'Obsidian' Heuchera means they will grow happily in grouped arrangements or when planted next to other shade-loving perennials. 'Obsidian' performs best in part-shade locations, but will tolerant full sun very well.
