Heuchera micrantha 'Palace Purple' is a strikingly purple cultivar of coral bell, specifically hybridized from different purple- and red-leaved subspecies of Heuchera micrantha. 'Palace Purple' is characterized by the diverse hues of its foliage, which may range in color from olive- or bronze-green to a deep purple with wine-red undersides. In addition, during the summer, 'Palace Purple' produces spikes of pink-white flowers which contrast nicely against the darker foliage below.
Like other coral bells, 'Palace Purple' performs best when planted in organically rich soil in part or full shade; like some darker colored cultivars, however, 'Palace Purple' can also thrive in full-sun, but should be provided with extra water to make sure it doesn't dry out too harshly; care should be taken when choosing a sunny spot for 'Palace Purple, as too much sun can turn bleach or discolor the darker foliage. Heuchera micrantha 'Palace Purple' is a great choice for underplanting, but also for borders, shaded pollinator gardens, small spaces, and woodland gardens.
