Phlox stolonifera 'Pink Ridge' is a pink-flowering cultivar of creeping phlox, a spreading perennial groundcover that produces excellent soft pink and purple blooms in the mid- to late Spring and early summer. Growing typically to less than 12" tall, 'Pink Ridge' is a great bed flower with pillowy, fragrant blooms above a sea of compact, bright green rounded foliage that retains its color year round; its spreading habit also makes it a great filler for containers or small spaces.
Attractive to a number of pollinators including native bees and butterflies, and performing best in full to part-shade, Phlox stolonifera 'Pink Ridge' was one of the top-performing pink cultivars in Mt. Cuba Center's trial gardens for shade phlox, receiving a rating of 3.5 out of 5 possible points. The cultivar was noted for its especially vigorous growth and attractive blooms perfect for shaded pollinators gardens and woodland settings. This Maryland native requires only an average amount of moisture, and grows well in sandy, slightly acidic soils; creeping phlox typically prefers full or partial shade, but is tolerant of more light with consistent moisture, making it a very versatile groundcover selection.
