Echinacea x Sombrero 'Sangrita' is a hybrid coneflower cultivar in the Sombrero line of gorgeous, fiery colored coneflowers from Proven Winners. Noted for its strikingly beautiful flowers in shades of spicy blood-red, Sombrero 'Sangrita' is a compact cultivar, growing to only 18-22" tall and slightly wider on average. Also noted for its hardiness, this coneflower hybrid is sure to impress in any garden space, especially when planted in masses or in a brutal, sunny area. Echinacea x Sombrero 'Sangrita' is an excellent and attractive pick for small garden spaces, pollinator gardens, containers, and in borders when planted en masse; beyond its ornamental value, this coneflower has a ton of ecological benefits, attracting pollinators and birds through almost every season.

While especially showy with its gorgeous red blooms, there's no need to worry about this echinacea's pollinator value, as Sombrero 'Sangrita' attracts just as many bees and butterflies as other echinacea in its cultivar line. Beyond pollinators, 'Sangrita' draws in hummingbirds with its bright red hue, and has fall and winter appeal for a number of bird species too! As with most coneflowers, Sombrero 'Sangrita' grows best in full to partial sun, and in well-drained medium-moist soils; again, like other coneflowers, this variety is tolerant of deer damage, drought, hot and dry locations, and a variety of soil types, making them an excellent pick for a variety of gardens.

While Sombrero 'Sangrita' is a hybrid cultivar, all Echinacea species are native to North America.
