Penstemon digitalis DAKOTA™ Burgundy is a cultivar of Penstemon digitalis, an upright, clump-forming native perennial, that is noted for its extreme cold-hardiness, green foliage that deepens to burgundy purple in the fall, and its pink to purple and white flowers in the summer. Blooms are attractive to pollinators and make for great cut flowers.

Growing to 12-24" tall, the biggest draw of DAKOTA™ Burgundy is the best of both worlds in terms of Penstemon foliage; while some cultivars start and stay green and others start and stay purple, DAKOTA™ Burgundy foliage starts a beautiful shade of lime green with burgundy red accents and deepens to dark purple with green tints in colder weather. In addition, this cultivar is especially cold-hardy, remaining viable down to -40°C in non-waterlogged soils.
