Echinacea 'Pretty Parasols' (Pale Purple Coneflower) Unity Grown

A charming hybrid cultivar for a variety of garden types, Echinacea 'Pretty Parasols' is a bi-color coneflower hybrid consisting of purple or rose-pink petals that fade into white as they age and grow from the bronze-brown cone. Noted for its attractive blooms and consistent upright habit, the 'Pretty Parasols' cultivar's summer to fall blooms have a drooping shape, reminiscent of an umbrella or parasol, supported by strong stems that mature to 2-4' tall. 

Echinacea 'Pretty Parasols' grows best in full sun, but tolerates partial shade and is adaptable to many soil types including dry, nutrient poor sites. 'Pretty Parasols' was discovered as a chance seedling, a coneflower field in Buggenhout, Belgium by botanist and nurseryman Jan Spruyt. According to the filed patent, 'Pretty Parasols' is a hybrid of two Echinacea purpurea cultivars, which makes it just as adaptable as other Echinace purpurea cultivars. 'Pretty Parasols' is deer tolerant, and attracts bees and butterflies while maintaining an upright behavior through the summer, fall, and well into the winter, when persistent seed heads become an especially valuable food source for songbirds.
