Rudbeckia fulgida 'American Gold Rush' is a compact cultivar of black-eyed Susan bred for disease resistance and smaller stature than other Rudbeckia. Slightly smaller than Rudbeckia fulgida 'Goldsturm', at only one to two feet tall, 'American Gold Rush' produces long-lasting 2" golden yellow blooms with dark yellow to chocolate brown centers from mid-summer into the fall. Flowers are an attractive golden yellow and are very popular with pollinators, and after blooms begin to die back, persistent seed cones act as food for a great number of birds.
Rudbeckia fulgida 'American Gold Rush' is resistant to deer browsing as well as drought conditions once established, but grows best in average, moist, well-drained soils. 'Little Goldstar' is low maintenance, high beauty, and long-lasting, making it ideal as the front and center choice for any layered bed or pollinator garden.
