Hydrangea arborescens 'Incrediball Storm Proof™' from Proven Winners is regarded as the strongest and most floriferous smooth hydrangea on the market. Noted for its cimpact size and sturdy stems that allow it to hold up better to intense storms and wind, 'Incrediball Storm Proof™' grows to only 3-4' tall and wide, perfect for specimen planting and low borders. Compared to other smooth hydrangea cultivars on the market, 'Incrediball Storm Proof™' boasts better vigor, thicker stems, and larger flowers with more fertile inflorescences to feed pollinators. Since cultivars with large flowers like 'Annabelle' provide better nectar and pollen supplies for hungry native bees than the straight species, it is easy to see just how much more potential benefit 'Incrediball Storm Proof™' can offer to butterflies and native bees in the back yard.

In the wild, Hydrangea arborescens is typically found wild in wetter, part-shade areas like woodland slopes and stream banks; since 'Incrediball Storm Proof™' is more compact, it requires less water while still performing beautifully in full sun and part-shade environments. This versatility makes 'Incrediball Storm Proof™' hydrangeas ideal for streamside and forest border plantings, and additionally makes for an excellent seasonal hedge. Since it's more compact, and damage can affect more of the plant, some care should be taken to limit deer and rabbit exposure to these shrubs, though some critter damage in the spring can encourage extra new growth, just like a good early spring pruning.
