Carex laxiculmis Bunny Blue™ (Spreading Sedge)

Carex laxiculmis Bunny Blue™ is a cultivar of spreading sedge, a species of low, spreading sedge native to shady, rich, woodland areas of the eastern US. The Bunny Blue™ cultivar is noted for its silvery, blue-green foliage and its wide, arching shape. Bunny Blue™ grows to 12-16" wide and thanks to its clumping, heavy foliage, it grows to only 6-14" tall; this cultivar produces fine spiked flower panicles of tiny, white or yellow flowers in late spring and early summer.

Sedges are generally regarded as good ornamental plants due to their ability to stand up to a variety of conditions, and Carex laxiculmis Bunny Blue™ is no exception. This cultivar is deer resistant, tolerant to a wide variety of soil types, grows well in full shade, and as a slow spreading species, grows well in small containers, borders, and even in rain gardens.
