Aronia melanocarpa Low Scape Mound® is a unique, low-growing, creeping groundcover cultivar of Aronia, a genus of shrubs often referred to as chokeberry. Normally reaching a height of around six feet tall, this dwarf, mounded cultivar is the perfect native shrub solution for groundcover, small space, and foundation plantings, and its smaller size allows for easier establishment in difficult areas like steep slopes. In addition, since Aronia melanocarpa is relatively tolerant of perpetually wet conditions, Low Scape Mound® works well for erosion control projects near ponds and streams too.

Growing to only 12-24" tall and about as wide, Low Scape Mound® produces hundreds of white flowers in spring which are followed by black fruit in summer and intense red foliage in the fall. Regarded as one of the toughest and most durable landscaping shrubs, this Aronia cultivar requires very little special care and, although it may not be entirely resistant to deer browsing, Low Scape Mound® is vigorous enough to bounce back from any winter browsing damage quickly and easily.
