Itea virginica 'Henry's Garnet' is a common cultivar of sweetspire, a compact arching shrub with bottle brush-type flowers, that is well regarded for its profuse flowering and intense fall colors. Although 'Henry's Garnet' is an excellent lime to emerald green color in the spring and summer, cooler temperatures induce an excellent color change to intense maroon, burgundy, and garnet red hues.

Beyond its colorful fall appeal, 'Henry's Garnet' is also well regarded for its fragrant and showy bottle brush flowers, which drape delicately from the shrub's many stems. Slender clusters of fragrant white flowers add to the multi-seasonal show and have the added benefit of attracting all sorts of pollinators, including bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds, among other pollinators. 'Henry's Garnet' sweetspire thrives in full to part-sun conditions and tolerates a wide variety of soil conditions as long as the soil is kept moist and well-draining.
