Itea virginica Fountains Of Rouge™ is a popular sweetspire cultivar, noted for its especially long bottle brush-type flowers, and well regarded for its profuse flowering and intense fall colors. Although Fountains Of Rouge™ is an excellent lime to emerald green color in the spring and summer, cooler temperatures induce an excellent color change to brilliant rouge shades of purple and red.

Growing to three to four feet tall with an arching spread of four to five feet, Fountains Of Rouge™ is also well regarded for its fragrant and showy bottle brush flowers, which drape delicately from the shrub's many stems. Slender clusters of fragrant white flowers add to the multi-seasonal show and have the added benefit of attracting all sorts of pollinators, including bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds, among other pollinators. Fountains Of Rouge™ sweetspire thrives in any variety of light conditions and tolerates deer browsing and a wide variety of soil conditions as long as the soil is kept moist and well-draining.
