Lewisia longipetala 'Little Raspberry' (Bitterroot)

Lewisia longipetala 'Little Raspberry' is a cultivar of lewisia, also called alpine bitterroot or Truckee lewisia, a low-growing semi-evergreen groundcover plant originally native to rocky mountain faces in California. Perfect for rock gardens, Lewisia longieptala 'Little raspberry' is well-regarded for its compact habit and striking, bright raspberry-pink blooms, which typically open in late spring and again in late summer or fall. Highly attractive to a number of bees and other pollinators, 'Little Raspberry' grows to a consistent size of only 6-8" tall and 8-10" wide in clumpy mats. 

Since it's originally native to rock faces and gravelly sites on Dicks Peak near lake Tahoe, 'Little Raspberry' thrives in nutrient poor, sandy and rocky soils, and is low maintenance enough to grow in containers, harshly lit window boxes, sidewalk hell-strips, and just about any other stubborn home landscape location with adequate drainage. Semi-evergreen foliage and a tendency to rebloom makes Lewisia longipetala 'Little Raspberry' an excellent and unique addition to the home landscape with tons of seasonal appeal.
