Espoma Holly-tone

Espoma's Holly-tone is the original plant food for all acid-loving plants! It’s a rich blend of the finest natural & organic ingredients and enhanced with humates & beneficial microbes, specifically blended for acid loving and evergreen plants. No sludges or fillers are ever used, and because Holly-tone is made in Espoma's state-of-the-art solar powered manufacturing facility, consistency and quality are guaranteed.

With an NPK ratio of 4-3-4, Flower-tone contains 4% Nitrogen, 3% Phosphorus, and 4% Potassium by weight, with additional nutrients including 5% Calcium, 01% Magnesium, and 5% Sulfur. NPK (Nitrogen, Phosphorus, and Potassium) are essential for healthy plant growth, with all elements aiding in the process of photosynthesis, and Ca, Mg, and S are all great for supporting plant health over their full life cycle. In greater detail:

• Nitrogen aids in rapid growth, better production of seeds and fruit, and improves the health and quality of foliage and plant tissues.
• Phosphorus root growth and shoot structure, helps the plant set buds and develop flowers, improves overall vitality and vigor, and increases the healthy mature size of the plant.
• Potassium helps build vital proteins within plant cells, improves the overall quality of plant fruits, and increases plants' ability to withstand disease.
• Calcium can prevent soils from becoming too acidic or alkaline, and can be used to reinforce structure in plant roots and stems by giving more strength to cell walls; strong cell walls can additionally help prevent disease.
  
• Magnesium is the central element of the chlorophyll molecule, making it another vital ingredient of photosynthesis, and can also be used in the activation of plant enzyme systems, which are vital parts of different plant life stages.
  
• Sulfur, like Potassium and Magnesium is used in the formation of plant proteins and enzyme function, making it necessary in a variety of plant life stages. In addition, however, a higher sulfur content will also help to acidify target soils, aiding in nutrient absorption for a variety of evergreen plants like hollies and rhododendrons.
  

With moderate amounts of several different key elements, as well as beneficial soil bacteria to reduce the risk of soil-borne diseases and sulfur to help reduce soil pH, Holly-tone is an excellent plant food to ensure that a wide variety of evergreen plants have their nutrient and soil condition needs met, slowly and organically. While we recommend the use of organic compost blends as the most reliable method to provide extra nutrients with a decreased risk of over fertilizing, and slow, natural acidification products like pine straw or pine bark mulch to reduce soil pH, Holly-tone is an excellent example of a pre-blended soil amendment with multi-purpose use in the back yard.
