SUGAR BUZZ® 'Cherry Pops' is a unique, showy cultivar of Monarda didyma, a beebalm species known for its scarlet flowers. Developed by Walters Gardens, the ‘Cherry Pops’ cultivar is part of the SUGAR BUZZ® series of monarda cultivars, but is set apart by its purple-tinted cherry red to fuchsia flowers, instead of the true purple or darker red flowers of most other cultivars. Highly attractive to bees, butterflies, and even hummingbirds, 'Cherry Pops' beebalm is an excellent addition to any pollinator garden, and its long-lasting flowers will make it a favorite among gardeners too! Beyond the cultivar’s standout blooms, it is also noted for its relatively compact habit, growing to only 18-24” tall and slightly wider, as well as its high powdery mildew resistance.

Monarda didyma SUGAR BUZZ® 'Cherry Pops' is in the mint family, and is therefore clump-forming with the tendency to spread over time, but monarda generally spreads much more slowly than some of its more aggressive mint relatives. This cultivar’s dark green foliage and purple-tinted stems have a minty-floral scent, and can be used for teas and desserts. This fragrant foliage also makes ‘Cherry Pops’ resistant to deer and rabbit damage, and adds to its fragrant appeal in low-growing beds and borders, pollinator gardens, herb gardens, or containers.
