Viburnum awabuki 'Chindo' is a gorgeus evergreen viburnum cultivar, growing as a dense, large, upright shrub or small tree with lustrous, dark green foliage. Typically multi-trunked, 'Chindo' grows rapidly to a height of 10 to 12 feet and a width of 6 to 8 feet, and produces large clusters of small white flowers in the spring. Though not native to North America, the 'Chindo' cultivar of Viburnum awabuki's lightly fragrant flowers attract a number of pollinators and, when planted near a pollinating partner like another 'Chindo' or similar evergreen viburnum, flowers will turn to pink and red berries at the end of summer and persist into the fall, perfect for attracting and feeding birds too!

The 'Chindo' cultivar of Viburnum awabuki is an especially hardy specimen that grows best in sun to part shade in a wide range of soils. Once established, 'Chindo' is also mildly resistant to damage by deer and can withstand drought and heat through the summer months. As a low maintenance evergreen, Viburnum awabuki 'Chindo' makes for a great taller screen shrub and border plant, but also serves well as a specimen tree and larger foundation plant. With its fast growth rate, dense foliage, and superb ornamental value, 'Chindo' is sure to find an excellent place in your landscape.
