Although its name may sound similar to ‘October Skies,’ Symphyotrichum oblongifolium ‘Twilight Sky™’ is a unique, showy aromatic aster cultivar set apart by its incredibly profuse flower set and increased disease and pest resistance over other cultivars. ‘Twilight Sky' grows to 3-4’ tall and only 12-18” wide, creating a wall of attractive, fragrant blooms in shades of periwinkle blue and pale purple; these flowers will attract a huge variety of hungry pollinators through late summer and feed a number of songbird species after flower heads dry to seed in the fall.

Symphyotrichum oblongifolium ‘Twilight Sky™’ thrives in medium-dry, sunny conditions and tolerates poor, rocky, and clay-rich soils, as well as deer and rabbit damage, making it a great choice for rock gardens, pollinator gardens, and open meadows where it provides a ton of ecological and ornamental appeal. With the ‘Twilight Sky’ cultivar's upright habit, it is sure to stand out, even among other medium to tall wildflower selections. Symphyotrichum oblongifolium flowers feed a variety of pollinators, its leaves feed butterfly and moth larvae, and its seeds feed a large variety of songbirds through the fall and winter, combining ecological and ornamental value with a show-stopping late season floral display.
