Attractive two-toned fruits make Zephyr summer squash stand out in a crowd! Light yellow with pale stripes turned to green striped blooming ends. Fruits can be harvested early for "unusually delicious, nutty flavor," and have medium-thick skin, and firm texture. Versatile for culinary use, and can be sauteed, grilled, roasted, or stuffed. One of the best ways to harvest early fruits is with the squash blossoms attached and stuffed.
This variety of yellow summer squash has a relatively open habit, but spreads fairly easily; plants can be placed 18-24" apart from one another, but should be given about 6' of room to spread and produce their fruit. Individual stalks with leaves and flowers may reach up to 3' in height.
Plants are available in 4" containers beginning the week of 4/28.
