Solidago juncea (Early Goldenrod) is a medium-sized, upright perennial, growing to between two and four feet tall. Early goldenrod is set apart from other goldenrod species by its early bloom period; where most goldenrods produce their bright yellow flower spikes between September and October, the early goldenrod begins producing flowers from July to August.

As with other goldenrod species, the early goldenrod's blooms are attractive to pollinators and birds, and the plant is deer tolerant.
