Rudbeckia fulgida 'Viette's Little Suzy' is a compact cultivar of black-eyed Susan, an upright, perennial wildflower noted for its petite size and its small, clump-forming growth behavior. Growing to only about 12-18" tall and only 9-12" wide, 'Viette's Little Suzy' is an excellent choice of black-eyed Susan for small spaces and containers especially but, like other black-eyed Susans, 'Viette's Little Suzy' also looks great when grown in large patches. This black-eyed Susan cultivar produces its telltale golden yellow and chocolate brown flowers from the mid summer to the early fall, attracting butterflies and other pollinators before its flower heads turn to seed and begin attracting birds through the fall and winter.
Rudbeckia fulgida 'Viette's Little Suzy' grows best in full to partial sun, medium-moist soil, and a variety of soil types including clay, rocky, and poor soils. 'Viette's Little Suzy' is also resistant to both deer and rabbit damage as well as drought. In addition to its compact size, the 'Viette's Little Suzy' cultivar also has improved disease resistance from some of its predecessors and prefers slightly wetter soil conditions than some cultivars of black-eyed Susan.
