Monarda 'Gardenview Scarlet' is a hybrid Monarda cultivar noted for its scarlet to rose-red flowers which bloom in dense clusters amidst its clump-forming green, aromatic foliage. 'Gardenview Scarlet' blooms for a period of several weeks from mid to late summer, and attracts swathes of hummingbirds, butterflies, and other pollinators.

This hybrid cultivar grows to around three feet tall, so it is on the larger side for Monarda cultivars, but it is also relatively slow to spread, and its taller height may contribute to its natural resistance to powdery mildew, a disease common in many Monarda varieties. For this reason, ‘Gardenview Scarlet’ is also the only true red cultivar to rank as a Mt. Cuba Top Performing Monarda, due to its striking color and manageable height compared to taller Monarda species, earning 4.0 out of 5 points for its performance in trial gardens.

These specific Monarda 'Gardenview Scarlet' were grown and raised from seed here at Unity Church Hill Nursery.
