An improved, more refined 'Limelight' cultivar, the 'Little Lime' variety of panicle hydrangea produces the same dense, vibrant flowers in a more consistent and compact growth habit. While true 'Limelight' plants can grow to towering sizes of six or eight feet tall, 'Little Lime' grows to only 3-5’ tall and wide, perfect for smaller spaces in need color and pollinator appeal. Hydrangea paniculata Little Lime® produces blooms that emerge cream white to lime green in mid-summer and maintain that color for a few weeks before transitioning to bubblegum pink and white; blooms eventually finish a rich, rose pink in the later summer months, all while attracting beneficial bees and other pollinators.

Performing best in average, medium-moist, well-draining soil and full sun to partial shade, Little Lime® is a great choice for flowering hedge, low border, or small specimen shrub, but also works great in containers thanks to its smaller stature. This panicle hydrangea is best pruned in late winter or early spring to encourage new growth and profuse flowering, as Hydrangea paniculata produces blooms on new wood. Like all hydrangeas, when summer flowers begin to fade, dried flower heads add a ton of multi-season interest through the fall and winter, and dried blooms look great in cut flower arrangements too!
