Hibiscus moscheutos 'Kopper King' is a hardy hybrid cultivar of swamp rose mallow and scarlet rose mallow that grows 3-4' tall with a compact, round, somewhat shrub-like habit. Known for its attractive, dinner plate-sized, five-petal flowers 'Kopper King' hibiscus produces flowers that range in color from white to dark pink from mid summer into the early fall. In addition to its eye-catching blooms, the 'Kopper King' cultivar is also well-regarded for its beautiful coppery-red hued foliage that brings additional aesthetic appeal and pollinator interest to any garden space.

Growing in a fairly compact habit, the 'Kopper King' cultivar is an excellent choice for smaller garden spaces as well as in wetland border plantings, in rain gardens, or as specimen plantings anywhere in need of some color. Although its parents are hybrid to swampy areas, this hybrid mallow will also do very well in the home garden if kept consistently moist; 'Kopper King' grows best in full sun conditions with fertile, non-compacted soil.

Note: Though 'Kopper King' is a hybrid cultivar, it is the resulting of crossing Hibiscus moscheutos (native to Maryland) and Hibiscus coccineus (native to the American southeast as far north as Virginia).
