Espoma Organic Kelp Meal is brown seaweed harvested from the cold Atlantic Ocean waters. It is processed at a low temperature, dried and ground to produce a meal. Kelp Meal is an excellent natural and organic supplement to other plant foods and soil conditioners. With an NPK ratio of 1-0-2, kelp meal provides necessary Nitrogen and Potassium to plant roots as it naturally break down, faster than many other natural fertilizers, but slower than synthetic fertilizers, resulting in a quick nutrient boost with little risk of scorching plants.

Nitrogen and potassium are essential for healthy plant growth, with both elements aiding in the process of photosynthesis. In greater detail:

• Nitrogen aids in rapid growth of the plant as a whole, results in better production of seeds and fruit, and improves the general health and quality of foliage and plant tissues.
