Coreopsis x 'Mercury Rising' is a hybrid tickseed cultivar in the Big Bang series from U.S.-based plant breeder Darrell Probst. Noted for its attractive, velvety magenta-burgundy flowers from June through to September, 'Mercury Rising' is sure to be a hot addition to any variety of locations in the home garden.

As a Coreopsis, 'Mercury Rising' has excellent tolerance to heat, drought, full sun, and cold, but also puts on a better display than some other low-growing tickseeds. 'Mercury Rising' grows to only 15-18" tall, but can spread easily in large patches up to three feet. Attractive red flowers are a source of nectar for a variety of pollinators, and beyond ecological appeal, this cultivar's cool weather display is even hotter than its name implies, with a profusion of cream-striped red blooms in the fall.
