'Zesty Zinger' tickseed is a showy cultivar of Coreopsis verticillata, also called theadleaf tickseed, in the 'Sizzle & Spice' line of perennials from Proven Winners. Noted for its spicy ruby-red flowers tinged with white, this tickseed cultivar tolerates a variety of conditions and environments, and its blooms will last through most of the full summer. Much like many other Coreopsis cultivars, 'Zesty Zinger' grows to a manageable size of about 1-2' tall and wide, and is resistant to a huge variety of conditions, including high heat and seasonal drought, deer and rabbit browsing, and poor, sandy, and rocky soils.

Performing best in harsh sunlight and in poor soils, and thriving on neglect once established, 'Zesty Zinger' Coreopsis is a great choice for sunny beds, rock gardens, and pollinator plantings in containers, along driveways, or amidst the stubborn hell-strip areas near the road. Red, summer-blooming flowers are attractive to a number of butterflies and important pollinators, and the same blooms are highly regarded for cut flower arrangements. In addition, with regular cutting of flower stalks, this cultivar can be encouraged to rebloom from early summer until fall frosts!
