Coreopsis grandiflora 'Early Sunrise' is a showy semi-double cultivar of tickseed, regarded well enough to have received multiple awards for its blooms by All-American Selections and the Royal Horticultural Society. Growing one to two feet tall, 'Early Sunrise' produces excellent golden yellow ruffled flowers from late spring well into the late summer if well maintained; its spring start makes this cultivar one of the earliest blooming Coreopsis cultivars, and a valuable addition to any garden.

Performing best in full sun, but tolerating part-shade in the dead of summer when temperatures soar, 'Early Sunrise' thrives in poor, rocky, and sandy soils and does very well with little moisture, preferring high drainage and soil moisture on the drier side. A favorite of both native bees and butterflies, Coreopsis grandiflora 'Early Sunrise' has the added benefit of deer and rabbit resistance, making it a hardy choice for anywhere there's a good population of wandering critters.
