Aquilegia canadensis 'Corbett' (Columbine) Unity Grown

'Corbett' is a compact cultivar of Aquilegia canadensis, a native columbine species also called eastern columbine; the 'Corbett' cultivar is noted for its buttery yellow bell or claw-shaped flowers with a deep golden center instead of the red blooms of the straight species. This easy to grow columbine variant blooms from spring into early summer, and only grows to a compact size of 12-18" tall. Though relatively short, 'Corbett' may still spread rapidly and form wide colonies via self-seeding.

'Corbett' columbines prefer average or organically rich well-drained soils in part shade, and can be found in nature in partly shaded woodland environments. Like typical columbines, plants are not palatable to deer and should have some natural tolerance to deer and rabbit damage while providing pollinators, butterflies, and occasionally even hummingbirds with a steady food supply through several months of spring.
