Lil' Ditty® is a cultivar of Viburnum nudum var. cassinoides (syn. Viburnum cassinoides) also called dwarf witherod viburnum, a naturally low-growing variety of viburnum. The Lil' Ditty® cultivar is noted for its vigorous, compact growth habit and profuse production of numerous, fragrant, creamy-white puffball flowers which bloom in late spring. Flowers are highly attractive to a number of bees and beetle pollinators, and the foliage plays host to a number of butterfly species too!
Low-growing to only 1-2' tall with glossy green leaves and profuse spring blooms, Lil' Ditty® viburnum makes an excellent addition to small spaces and borders, as well as low-growing foundation plantings and pollinator gardens. With spring flowers, beautiful late summer foliage, and gorgeous orange, red, and purple foliage in the fall, Lil' Ditty® has a ton of multi-season appeal and a ton of ecological appeal all in one neat little package.
Note: To produce better floral displays, Viburnum cassinoides Lil' Ditty® can be planted in groups rather than individually. Unfortunately, as of 2025, commercially available pollinating partners for Lil' Ditty® are lacking, but planting among other Viburnum species may result in some cross-pollination and limited fruit set.
