Tiarella cordifolia 'Spring Symphony' is a showy, profusely blooming cultivar of foamflower, a low-growing, semi-evergreen ornamental perennial wildflower; originating as the offspring of another classic Tiarella cultivar, 'Pink Bouquet,' the 'Spring Symphony' cultivar differs from its parent cultivar with even more profuse, long-lasting pink and white blooms and its unique, deeply lobed to palmate foliage marked occasionally with dark reds and purple veins, perfect for planting in masses and shading out weeds in partial to full shade areas. Closely related to, and occasionally mistaken for Heuchera species, both plants are well-regarded for their ornamental foliage and their heavy shade tolerance, and with the 'Spring Symphony' cultivar's long bloom window from mid-spring well into mid-summer, this is sure to be an even showier addition to your shade garden areas.
Tiarella cordifolia 'Spring Symphony' grows best in partial to full-shade in moist, well-draining, organically rich soils and can form small clumps up to 10-12" tall and up to 2' wide, spreading via runners. Though foamflower should not be allowed to dry out, as its leaves will suffer, it should also not be left in areas with poorly draining, compacted soils, as its shallow roots can easily start to break down or suffer from root rot. This cultivar's white and pink flower spikes are attractive to bumblebees and other pollinators, and semi-evergreen foliage adds multi-season groundcover appeal with attractive red tints in the fall and winter, making 'Spring Symphony' appealing far, far beyond the spring!
