Lonicera sempervirens 'Magnifica,' commonly called coral or trumpet honeysuckle, is a semi-evergreen to evergreen vine, depending on winter climate, with bright green leaves that are either paired of occasionally encircle the stems. From late spring into the summer, 'Magnifica' honeysuckle produces long-blooming, bright red and orange, trumpet-shaped flowers that attract hummingbirds, butterflies, and other pollinators. The 'Magnifica' cultivar differs from its parent species by its more orange-hued blooms, adding an excellent pop of color even when planted among other common native honeysuckle cultivars.

Lonicera sempervirens 'Magnifica' typically matures to a relatively compact size of 4-8' tall and 1-6' wide, much less vigorous and much easier to maintain than other larger honeysuckle varieties like 'Leo.' As a vining plant, 'Magnifica' can be trained up rock walls, fences, or other larger plants to support itself, but it can also be trained to grow as a sprawling groundcover plant. Coral honeysuckle, especially compact and densely flowering varieties like 'Magnifica,' are a favorite for planting on mailbox posts and trellises, but can be used in any well draining location with sun or partial shade. 'Magnifica' is tolerant of drought, salt, and even clay soils, but works best in average, looser soil types. For its pollinator appeal and its gorgeous, fragrant blooms, 'Magnifica' is sure to be a magnificent addition to any landscape.
