Lagerstroemia indica x fauriei 'Natchez' is a striking, hybrid cultivar of crape myrtle, a multi-trunked ornamental tree found in gardens the world over. The 'Natchez' hybrid is a cross between two common crape myrtles, Lagerstroemia indica and Lagerstroemia subcostata var. fauriei, and is noted for is medium-large size, fast growth rate, and its profusion of large, pure white flower clusters blooming from mid to late summer and lasting well into the fall season. While flowers are attractive to gardeners and to pollinators, the tree's dark green foliage also turns to striking shades of orange and red in the fall, adding multi-season interest alongside attractive, excising cinnamon-brown bark. 'Natchez' typically grows to 15-20' tall and wide, though occasionally a bit larger, when provided with its ideal growth conditions.

Lagerstroemia indica x fauriei 'Natchez' prefers average, well-drained soils in full sun conditions, though it will also tolerate partial shade. 'Natchez' is highly disease resistant, fast-growing, and extremely colorful throughout the year, making for a striking specimen tree. And when you add in the pollinator appeal and the trees' attractiveness to birds, it's hard to go wrong with a 'Natchez' crape myrtle.

Marylanders Plant Trees

From the Maryland Department of Natural Resources:

"We launched Marylanders Plant Trees in 2009 to encourage citizens and organizations to partner with the State to plant new trees. Today, citizens can still take advantage of our coupon program to receive $25 off the purchase of a native tree at 86 participating nurseries across the State. The State cost of $20 per coupon is funded through a settlement from a major power generator for Clean Air Act violations, in partnership with the Office of the Attorney General, and Maryland’s participating tree vendors are generously absorbing the remaining $5.

Trees must be planted in the state of Maryland to qualify for $25 off coupon.
Wholesale customers do not qualify.
