Sisyrinchium angustifolium (Blue-eyed Grass) is a very low perennial wildflower typically growing to less than a foot tall. Blue-eyed grass first produces soft, narrow, grass-like leaves, followed by striking blue-purple flowers with a golden-yellow center through the late spring and early summer.
While blue-eyed grass is native to the US, where it grows as groundcover in open forests and meadows, the 'Lucerne' cultivar was bred for compact growth and a higher density of larger, showier, flowers than its parent species. It is also reportedly more cold-hardy and less prone to self-seeding.
This product is raised and grown here at Unity Church Hill Nursery.
