Physostegia virginiana 'Crystal Peak White' is a unique, compact cultivar of obedient plant, named for its unique flower behavior. Typically noted for its light rose-pink flowers and taller height, 'Crystal Peak White' instead produces snow white blooms and grows to a manageable compact size of only 12-18" tall and wide. Typically found in wetter locations across much of the eastern half of North America, Physostegia virginiana 'Crystal Peak White' grows best in average, medium-moist soils in full sun, though it can also tolerate wetter conditions.
Though the parent species can also be a bit of an aggressive spreader and may also be prone to flopping in hot weather, due to the 'Crystal Peak White' cultivar's compact habit, it is a bit lower maintenance and works beautifully for small spaces. Beyond its ornamental and low-maintenance appeal, Physostegia virginiana 'Crystal Peak White' has all the same pollinator appeal of the parent species and attracts hummingbirds, butterflies, and other pollinators to the garden throughout the entire summer since it blooms from June well into September.
