Phlox paniculata Luminary® 'Ultraviolet' is a striking, purple-blooming cultivar of tall garden phlox, an upright phlox species noted for its upright growth form and found across most of the eastern United States. The 'Ultraviolet' cultivar is part of the Luminary® series of improved phloxes by Proven Winners, and is noted for its vibrant true-purple, fragrant flowers, bronze-tinted foliage, and better disease resistance over its parent cultivar 'Nicky'.

As a descendent of a compact cultivar like 'Nicky,' Luminary® 'Ultraviolet' is also a compact garden phlox, growing to 24-30" tall, but still putting on an excellent show of gorgeous bright purple flowers from mid summer to early fall, attracting butterflies, hummingbirds, and a number of other pollinators in the process. Phlox paniculata Luminary® 'Ultraviolet' performs best in full sun, though it will tolerate some shade, and excels in average soils, well-draining soils. While individual Phlox paniculata can be planted as accents, they also look great when planted en masse, and can be deadheaded to keep up their floral show for several months, making them perfect for cut flower arrangements too!
