Phlox paniculata 'Coral Crème Drop' is a showy, dark-leaved cultivar of tall garden phlox, an upright phlox species noted for its tall growth form, found across most of the eastern United States. The 'Coral Crème Drop' cultivar was developed by First Editions, and is noted for its dark, purple-toned leaves and rosy-pink fragrant flowers produced in large number. The 'Coral Crème Drop' cultivar was a participant in the Mt. Cuba Center trial gardens, where it didn't perform quite as high as 'Kim' or 'Jeana,' but was still well-regarded for its disease resistance and long-lasting darker foliage, receiving 3.8 out of 5 possible points.
Phlox paniculata 'Coral Crème Drop' grows to 18-36" tall, and produces its showy, bright pink flowers from mid summer to early fall, attracting butterflies, hummingbirds, and a number of other pollinators in the process. The 'Coral Crème Drop' cultivar performs best in full sun, average soils, and medium but well-draining moisture. While individual Phlox paniculata can be planted as accents, they also look great when planted en masse, and can be deadheaded to keep up their floral show for several months!
