Tiarella x 'Pink Skyrocket' is a hybrid cultivar of foamflower, a small, native perennial wildflower, grown for its attractive groundcover foliage and showy, profuse flower spikes. The 'Pink Bouquet' cultivar is noted for its deeply-lobed palmate leaves with deep, wine-colored central veins, and urpight, conical, bright pink flower spikes. In addition to its namesake flower spikes, 'Pink Skyrocket' has a fairly compact, clump-forming habit, but unlike other Tiarella, 'Pink Bouquet' produces lower growing flower spikes, with total height including flower spikes coming to only 6-12" tall in early to mid spring.
While compact in terms of height and spread, 'Pink Skyrocket' foamflower is still an excellent statement piece for shade gardens and woodland plantings. Through fall and winter, this cultivar's semi-evergreen leaves fade to a bronze color, adding an eye-catching element to cold-season landscapes. Tiarella x 'Pink Skyrocket' grows best in partial to full shade and medium-moist, fertile soils, and its bitter, fuzzy leaves tend to be enough to keep away grazing rabbits and deer, making for a long-lasting and beautiful shade planting. For extra protection through cold winters, make sure your 'Pink Skyrocket' is provided with well-draining soil and a healthy layer of mulch for insulation.
