Hydrangea quercifolia 'Alice' is an excellent oakleaf hydrangea selection  for a variety of uses in the home garden. Maturing to a relatively large size of 5-8' tall and wide (and occasionally even larger up to 12 feet), 'Alice' is a great hydrangea choice for larger foundation plantings, privacy hedges, and spectacular specimen plantings. Beyond the unique, large-lobed foliage of the typical Hydrangea quercifolia, in early to mid summer, 'Alice' produces large, white flower clusters with a beautiful arching curve; then, as the summer goes on, white blooms turn to pale pink and eventually dry to an attractive tan shade that persists through the fall and winter.

This cultivar's flowers are highly attractive to pollinators, and pair well with foliage at any stage of the year, from vibrant green summer hues to beautiful red-purple fall foliage with milk chocolate-colored exfoliating bark, resulting in year-round interest. Hydrangea quercifolia 'Alice' performs best in moist, fertile soil in full to part-sun areas, and works great in a variety of landscapes as long as it's kept relatively moist through periods of intense summer heat. With pollinator appeal, a mountainous size, and stunning flowers,  'Alice' is an outstanding addition to any larger landscape and is sure to please for gardeners and wildlife alike.
