'Brigadoon' is a yellow-leaved cultivar of Hypericum calycinum, also known as St. John's Wort, a shade-tolerant, creeping, woody perennial. Often chosen for use as groundcover or in mass plantings, Hypericum calycinum is tolerant of a wide variety of soil conditions and types, and grows to only 12-18" tall while spreading up to twice that across the ground, and 'Brigadoon' adds a contrasting splash of chartreuse yellow to a landscape while retaining the showy yellow flowers of other St. John's worts.

Hypericum calycinum 'Brigadoon' is partially shade-loving, and will grow best in dappled sunlight or locations with direct morning light followed by full shade. Hypericum calycinum typically dies back to the root in winter, but in warmer climates, 'Brigadoon' can be semi-evergreen; in these warmer spots, it is important to shear back the growth tips in the late winter or early spring in order to encourage new growth and flower set during the main growing season.
