Nepeta x faassenii 'Walker's Low' is the classic catmint cultivar found in gardens across the world for its pollinator benefits, attractive foliage, and mint-like fragrant leaves.
Growing to a reasonable size of up to 30", 'Walker's Low' catmint is a mint relative with aromatic foliage covered in fine hairs that add a silvery-green hue to its appearance. Upright and clump forming overtime, Nepeta is a a non-native genus of plants popular in gardens for their fragrance, their appearance, their attractiveness to pollinators, and occasionally their culinary use.
With hair covered, somewhat mint-scented foliage, catmint is resistant to browsing from deer and rabbits, while its long-lasting purple flowers provide a source of nectar to pollinators like butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds from early summer to late summer. 'Walker's Low' is a hardy cultivar capable of withstanding hot dry summers and soils with some salt content, making it an excellent addition to small beds, accent plantings among other upright pollinator picks, or for hiding unsightly foundations or junction boxes around the home garden.
