Leucanthemum x superbum 'Madonna' (Shasta Daisy)
Leucanthemum x superbum 'Madonna' is a hybrid shasta daisy cultivar that is noted for its abundance of blooms and its attractive, compact and tidy appearance. Flowers begin blooming in early summer, consisting of multiple clean, snowy white petals surrounding a sunny yellow center, and blooming on dense green foliage maxing out at only 8-10" tall, forming low, bushy mounds of gorgeous blooms that can be maintained all summer long for years to come.
Leucanthemum x superbum hybrids are relatively compact, but with the 'Madonna' variety's extra compact habit, this shasta daisy variety makes for an exellent addition to low borders, small areas, and container gardens, as well as in rock gardens and pollinator plantings. Deer and rabbit resistant flowers retain their clean look through the summer, with new flowers forming and blooming above older blooms, resulting in a shasta daisy that benefits from deadheading but doesn't require the extra special treatment.
