Liatris spicata 'Floristan White' is an excellent cultivar of blazing star noted for its relatively compact growth habit and showy, cream white blooms. Although Liatris spicata can reach heights of up to 5' tall, the 'Floristan White' cultivar grows to a slightly more manageable size of 2-4' tall, perfect for smaller spaces, border beds, and medium height pollinator gardens. In addition to its manageable growth habit, 'Floristan White' produces flowers from mid-summer to early fall in soft, creamy, vanilla white hues.
Liatris spicata 'Floristan White' grows best in full sun in average soils, and is not especially picky about soil consistency or moisture, though it may produce better in moister soils. With tolerance to drought and deer damage, as well as high ecological value to butterflies and all sorts of pollinators, 'Floristan White' will make an excellent addition to any pollinator garden or home landscape. Flowers are excellent for cut arrangements, and cutting back after flowering may encourage reblooming; alternatively, flower spikes can be left in place to offer seed to songbirds.
