Viburnum awabuki 'Chindo' is a hardy, glossy, evergreen viburnum cultivar, growing as a dense, large, upright shrub or small tree with lustrous, dark green foliage. 'Chindo' grows rapidly to a height of 10 to 12 feet and a width of 6 to 8 feet, and produces large clusters of small white flowers in the spring, which turn to pink and red berries at the end of summer and into the fall, perfect for attracting a variety of pollinators as well as birds.

This cultivar of Viburnum awabuki is an especially hardy specimen that grows best in sun to part shade in a wide range of soils; 'Chindo' is also mildly resistant to damage by deer and, once established, can withstand drought and heat. As a low maintenance evergreen, Viburnum awabuki 'Chindo' makes for a great taller screen shrub and border plant, but also serves well as a specimen tree and larger foundation plant.
