Hydrangea quercifolia 'Gatsby Glow Ball®' is a striking new semi-dwarf oakleaf hydrangea cultivar that is perfect for adding color and structure to a variety of locations around the home garden. Noted as a stand-out for its denser, more rounded flower clusters and compact size of just 3-4' tall and wide, ‘Gatsby Glow Ball®’ is well-regarded for being a master and more consistent grower than other common dwarf varieties like 'Munchkin.' Flowering from early to late summer, ‘Gatsby Glow Ball®’ produces white flowers that mature to a greenish hue before fading to pink and eventually warm beige tones in the fall, contrasting well against firey and wine-red autumn foliage, adding excellent seasonal appeal.

After fall foliage has come and gone, coarse mature stems exfoliate to reveal an attractive, chocolate brown inner bark, which adds eye-catching appeal to the winter landscape as well, especially alongside dried brown flower heads. This cultivar performs best in average to fertile soils in full to part-sun areas, and its compact form works in smaller landscapes, low hedges, and en masse in pollinator and woodland gardens. With mild tolerance of heat, salt, and deer damage, and with year-round aesthetic appeal, 'Gatsby Glow Ball®' makes an excellent addition to any part of the landscape.
