Rudbeckia fulgida 'Goldsturm' is a medium-sized cultivar of black-eyed Susan bred for its compact growth habit and profusely flowering nature. Although 'Goldsturm' only grows to two or three feet tall, it is easy to see why the cultivar was named for after a 'golden storm,' with profuse production of numerous golden yellow flowers from the middle of summer into the autumn, and its dense blooms make it a great, compact addition to pollinator gardens, meadows, or small spaces.
The large number of blooms through the summer and autumn months make 'Goldsturm' a valuable plant to butterflies and other pollinators, but they also make it valuable to birds and small mammals as the seed heads persist into the winter months. Like other black-eyed Susans, Rudbeckia fulgida 'Goldsturm' medium-moist, well-drained soils, but is not especially picky about soil consistency. A perfect pick for a variety of garden types, 'Goldsturm' is resistant to deer and rabbit damage, drought, and poor soils.
